I won’t lie. When I wrote this song I was totally going for a guitar-shredder type of tune. The feeling you get from bouncing off the low E string and adding hammer-ons and pull-offs is awesome. A driving rhythm with massive gain is always a recipe for beauty. Well, maybe not “beauty” as most would think of it but for guitarists who have the gain cranked to 11, it doesn’t get better than that.
Be that as it may, I still couldn’t sway too far from the melody. I prefer a sweet melodic song over playing a million notes. For me it’s easy to shred. On the other hand, to craft a melody that will stick in your head hours later is not so easy… for anyone. I think Living In A Bubble captures both good melody and technique.
I named this track Living In A Bubble because sometimes I wish we could do just that. Live in our own bubble. In a protected space. No news. No sickness. No death. No fear. No worries.
Wisdom reveals my desire as a lack of trust that God has good things for me. Do you fully trust God with your future?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight – Proverbs 3:5-6
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11
