Dave Mirra has always been one of my favorite freestyle bmxers. His presence at the events seem to add depth that would have been missing had he not been there.
I grew up racing BMX and after I stopped I got into freestyle. It’s been awhile since I rode my BMX bike. I still have it.
When I got the news that Dave, 41 years old, committed suicide my heart sank. I feel terrible for people when they think they have no other option but to end their life.
I named this track New Beginnings because I want it to remind people that there is always hope even in the worst situations. My good friend told me “This piece makes me feel happy inside.”
That’s exactly what I was hoping for.
New Beginnings is set to be track #2 on the new album. This is the first song that I sent for mastering and let me tell you it sounds fantastic. Ross Nyberg (Eddie Vedder, Warner Bros. Records, Shrapnel Records, Peter Thorn, Sub Pop, etc) has graciously accepted my offer to master the tracks. The difference you’ll hear on SoundCloud vs. Nyberg’s mastered product will be huge.
Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. – Psalm 55:22
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. – 1 Corinthians 15:57-58
