Plousios

When I began writing this song I felt like there was something deeply special about it. I recorded the main idea and thought, man, this is good, I need to save this session.

With the Apple Command-S key combination comes one of the hardest parts of being an artist – what to name a song. It’s extremely hard to come up with a name that captures the core of your instrumental idea so that others can enter into the same emotional and creative space where you created it.

For Christmas my wife gave me a daily Greek word study to “sharpen my understanding of God’s Word”. I looked at January 23rd and the word was “plousios”.

Plousios (pronounced ploo’-see-os) means richly blessed. Extreme wealth. So full of the Word of God that the entire being is affected. The heart is full of joy; the mind is flooded with wisdom and understanding; the mouth sings songs to the Lord.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…
-Colossians 3:16

Perfect. Writing this song took on an even greater meaning for me. Finishing it was more than carving out melodies and arranging parts. It was taking on the responsibility of sharing God’s word through my talents.

We are all richly blessed with God given talents. Today is a great day to share yours!
